FULL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
/ ACADEMICS
01
Primary education at AHSB focuses on basic academic learning and socialization skills, introducing children to the broad range of knowledge, skill and behavioral adjustment they need to succeed in life – and, particularly, in secondary (High) school. Students learn basic arithmetic, English proficiency (such as basic grammar, spelling, and vocabulary), and fundamentals of other subjects such as Science, Art, and Physical Education. Sometime throughout the schedule will be devoted to the subject of Citizenship. Students will learn about social issues through the subjects of Science and English. Bulgarian will be taught based on demand as an extra-curricular subject outside of school hours.
The school days will be Monday through Friday, starting at 8:30, in morning or afternoon shifts, based on the grade level. No lunch or after-school care will be provided, however, based on demand, we may offer transportation to and from a local daycare. We work with academic hours of 40 minutes, and students are given 20-minute breaks between subjects. From 5th grade onwards, the academic hour becomes 50 minutes.
Whenever possible, we strive to keep group sizes to a small number in order to provide the best student-teacher experience.

02
/ PROGRAM OUTLINE
Basic subjects such as English, Math, and Science are taught in elementary school, and the standards used are set by the State of Florida, and the American Common Core curriculum. Students spend about 5 hours at school and often remain in one classroom throughout the school day. An overlap takes place midday where students from various elementary grade levels participate in elective Art and Physical Education activities. Our school is surrounded by beautiful nature and sports facilities and whenever possible, outdoor activities will be encouraged.
Some time throughout the day will be dedicated to the subjects of Ethics and Citizenship. In Citizenship, students learn about respecting themselves and others as well as playing a part in protecting the environment. Values against cheating, bullying, stealing, and lying are also instilled in the subject of Ethics.
