OUR PROGRAMS

The American High School Program (AHSB):

High school is from 9-12th grade. Classes start at 8:30 and continue until 1:30-2:00, depending on the schedule. To graduate, students must complete 24 credits over a four-year period from 9-12th grade, at 6 credits per year. The yearly schedule consists of 4 core subjects (Math, Social Studies, Science, and English) plus two Elective subjects. We usually give students the option to choose two from 4-5 different electives each year. Some elective courses such as Physical Fitness, Health Education, Art, World History, Stress Management, and Public Speaking are required.

Whenever possible, we strive to keep group sizes to a small number in order to provide the best student-teacher experience. For this reason, classes fill up fast.

Students who join at different stages of the high school program are given as much credit as possible for subjects completed to date.

Upon graduating, students will earn an internationally-accredited high school diploma that is accepted at universities worldwide and in Bulgaria. Our students have been accepted at universities around the world including the United Kingdom, Austria, Lithuania, Croatia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, and the United States (including Harvard and Stanford, as well as many State Universities and colleges), and Bulgaria. Several of our students are currently studying at medical universities, and one has already become a practicing dentist in London, England.

The AHSB facility will be located at: ул. „Сирма Войвода“ 3A, here.

The American Foundation School Program (AFSB):

AFSB for children in 1-4 grades is an all-day program, which starts at 8:30 and continues until 16:00. Students from 5th grade and higher leave at around 2:15. Whenever possible, we strive to keep group sizes to a small number in order to provide the best student-teacher experience. The subjects taught are based on the American Common Core system and include English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Students are given 10-minute breaks between classes. Students also participate in Art, music, IT, and physical education activities throughout the week.

The AFSB facility is located in the Sea Garden and can be found here.

The requirement for admission to all grades is an adequate level of English (A2-B1) for non-native English speakers, which we assess in a meeting with the child. At times, it is also important for us to look at age as a parameter of readiness.

For students who do not speak English, we require that they  enroll in ESL classes during the summer months or as an after-school program at an additional cost.

To start the enrollment process, please complete the application form here

In the online application form, we request the following documents to be uploaded. Please ensure that all official documents are in English:

  • A passport-size photo of the child.

  • A copy of the birth certificate of the child.

  • A copy of an ID or passport of the parent who will sign the contract and be responsible for paying the tuition fees.

  • A document of completion of the previous year of education.
